A child’s growth is shaped by his or her parents, surroundings and the child’s school or the early learning environment. Exposure to the right kind of space can help the child form healthy habits and thought patterns that’ll pave the way for a strong foundation of complementary traits, attitudes, and skills.
Learning
of such integral life-skills in the early stages of life involves the
development of not just mental capabilities but also of physical aspects of the
body. As children develop into a more able and skilled version of themselves,
they need spaces that are safe, inspiring and stimulating. These factors can
play a huge role in a child’s development.
Therefore, it is a given that schools are a major part of a child’s life. From
forming the first friends to learning the most basic concepts, and even
experiencing life outside the home, the school is where children experience
their many firsts.
Every parent seeks to give their child the best head-start in life. They ensure
that the school they choose for their little one has the basic amenities to
facilitate growth and development.
But if the school’s architecture and design have to effectively stimulate
learning, creativity, and nurture a mind that is curious, the institution needs
to go beyond basic aesthetics and good-to-have amenities. Optimal learning
needs infrastructural features that are often missed as they go deeper than
what meets the eye.
Everything from the design philosophy to the treatment and usage of open spaces
can have an impact on children’s ability to learn and grasp new ideas. While
the learning environment needs to be welcoming it is also essential that the
school design inspires curiosity, immersive learning, and facilitates
intellectual stimulation.
At Chaman Bhartiya, we incorporate interactive and collaborative deep-learning
through flexible learning areas and open spaces. The environment has been
treated as the third teacher. With each space built to enable personalised
learning, collaboration, and communication, our students experience hands-on
learning while interacting with and seeing the concepts they learn, live in
action.
With a dedicated hydroponics terrace garden, germination
and photosynthesis will be more than just new biological terms for the children
here. Our innovation lab is another example of a learning space dedicated to
practise design thinking which helps develop creativity and problem-solving
skills. Students will go through the entire process of design thinking from
ideation and planning to prototype production.
Designed by Mr Andrew Daws, our chief Architect from the UK, the school
building was built with inputs on international best practices from renowned
global educators and our director, Allan Andersen.
Thoughtfully created, our school building not only creates a good environment
conducive to learning but is also sustainable. The campus uses natural lighting
and ventilation in a way that artificial air-conditioning is not required.
Also, the materials used for the construction of the building are acoustically
treated to ensure there is natural voice reduction so that the students can
focus on the tasks at hand.
Chaman Bhartiya School is a private K12 institution based in Bangalore with a
mission to create the leaders of tomorrow. We aim to achieve this by helping
children identify their potential at an earlier stage while helping them
develop 21st-century competencies through deep-learning.
